Vacuum sealer is a great product but perhaps not the most important small kitchen appliance. We’d say that almost everyone can survive without one. So here are a few tips on how to package up a batch of berries or stir-fry ingredients to freeze.
The first and simplest way to take the air out of the bag is to press down as much air out of the plastic bag as you can, but make sure not to squeeze the fruits or veggies.
Another quite simple way is to insert a plastic straw in a corner of the bag to suck out as much air as you can, make sure to seal the bag around the straw. Suck out the air through the straw until you see the sides of the bag are close to each other. To close the bag you should maintain the suction and almost at once pull out the straw and seal the rest of the bag.
This artisanal sealing method will help keep foods at their best while in their frozen state, and will also save you some freezer space.
